Can you believe 365 days have gone by already? Wait, wasn’t this year a leap year? 366 days. Crazy. Though if you ask Ken he will say this year has crawled by for him. Isn’t that weird? That this year has just flown by for me and then been the total opposite for him? But we both agree it’s been a great year. We’re both really excited to see what twin toddlers brings us.

Happy Birthday, lovely girls! We made it!

51 Weeks

Ugh. I got the flu at the end of last week. The. freaking. flu. Which kept up from going to a birthday party, a family branch, visiting friends we haven’t seen since we moved, and birthday party prep. Stupid, stupid virus. I was a miserable being for about 2.5 days. Fortunately, Ken is super dad and took care of the girls (and me) like a champ! Though I did appreciate hearing him say that he now understands why I’m so exhausted at the end of the day. Don’t let these darling little faces fool you. The cuteness and the fun is only to distract from how much work they are (but mostly fun).

We have sanitized the you-know-what out of our apartment, opened the windows to clear out the air, and washed all 500 pounds of blankets I was burrowed under. And then last night Hazel started to come down with a temperature. *palm to face*. I guess if they must get sick they should do it this week and get it over with so they are healthy for next week since next week is BIRTHDAY WEEK!

50 Weeks

50 weeks. Wow.

I Googled today to see when babies go from being infants toddlers. The resounding answer was when they turn one. Cue this momma lying on the floor bawling her eyes out that her kids are growing up a chorus of Happy Birthday.

Haley is a walking machine. She can even turn herself in a circle. Excuse all the drool, those stupid molars still haven’t come through. They don’t seem to be hurting her, but she’s been drooling like a leaky faucet. She loves taking a bath, carrying around her lovey, and being chased.

Hazel can pull herself up to standing flawlessly and will walk holding onto to our hands, or furniture. She can balance by herself, but I think she’s afraid to take a step. No rush though. Whenever she’s ready is fine with me. She loves to play peek-a-boo, to eat, and she says “quack quack” when we sing Rubber Ducky.

They are ridiculously adorable with each other. They play with each other, laugh with each other. There are many evenings when I am so overwhelmed with love and delight that I feel sad for people who don’t get to experience the joy of twins. It’s so magical and wonderful. Which is wonderful considering how terrified I was during the pregnancy.

50 weeks. I guess I should get to work on figuring out their birthday party. Eek!

49 Weeks

3 more weeks. I’ve already started to slowly transition them off of formula and off of their bottles. We’re going to do this slow and steady, but those bottles are going to be gone (except for maybe their bedtime bottle cause there is no way I’m messing with sleeping through the night before it’s absolutely necessary). Crazy to think that at this time last year I only had one more week of work left, I had gain 68 pounds, and I had been sleeping on the couch since mid-October. My, how things change.

I hope everyone had a great christmashanukkahkawanzawintersolstice. I’m still slogging through all the photos from Christmas, trying to get them all edited. But it’s a BEAST, plus I’m trying to figure out the girls birthday party. I’m not going crazy with it, but I’m not a great party planner so it takes me longer than the average bear.

Haley is barely crawling anymore. She’s taking a lot of tumbles because of it, but she just gets right back up and keeps on trucking.

Hazel has become so outgoing and social. She is becoming so independent, she doesn’t want Momma or Daddy’s help with anything. Unless she gets stuck crawling under the chairs. Then she wants us. 🙂

The girls are playing with it each other so much more. Like right now, for instance, they are in the hallway giggling at each other. SOOOO cute!

Gah! Crazy busy week, but in a really nice way. The school is on break and I get to be home with my girlies for two weeks. It’s been lovely so far and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Haley’s still working on this walking thing. She’s taken more and more steps by herself.

Hazel is starting to imitate words and use her sign language a little bit. It’s so cute to watch her play and talk to herself.
