Okay, maybe not stretching. Maybe pulling them out of some old, abandoned box and blowing the dust off of them to see if they’re any good. I’m starting to plot decorating our living room. It isn’t much to look at right now. It consists of the couch we bought when we lived with Ken’s sister 50 million years ago (which has seen better days) and is covered with a too large slip cover. The hideous valances the previous tenants left are still there. We have storage bins supporting the speakers for the ancient CD player Ken has had since he was in high school. It’s functional and comfortable, but it isn’t close to stylish.
I’ve been looking at stylish, yet family friendly living rooms on Pinterest and there are some darling ones.
- I love that this living room isn’t huge, but it’s still comfortable and functional. I adore those cube coffee tables. I actually went hunting online and found those exact coffee tables. They are being sold for $250. Well, after I hiked my jaw off the floor and rolled my tongue into my mouth, I showed them to Ken who thinks he can build them for me instead. Aren’t handy husbands the best?
- I like the use of color in this one. It’s a little busy for me, but I really dig the idea of having a really neutral base and then we can just rotate seasonal stuff through and put color and personality into the room that way.
In the meantime, while we save up the money to do this, I have decided I want to upgrade to this sectional
and this chair.
Not the blue though. Probably in white. Especially since the covers are removable and washable. And I’ll just put a drop cloth on them whenever the girls want to sit on them. Dark, charcoal gray would be nice too.
Ken and I are both fans of this color scheme. Nice and neutral. I was thinking that very top color – the really pale gray – would be nice for the walls. And then white furniture and maybe curtains in that middle deep blueish-gray color?
What do you guys think?
Your wings are ready to fly-great ideas and what a lovely seashell color scheme! The coffee tables are darling with the cross shape (i have no idea what it’s called)- but look like a LOT of work to make- wow… and you’re brave to want white furniture…lol. word of advice- when your beautiful girls are old enough to convince you to get a dog (adoring them so), get one that matches the color of the main furniture- even if they’re not allowed on the couch, they rub up against them constantly… 🙂
